No: 307

In 1893/94 Zeiss started producing the first binoculars and three versions of relief scopes, with a 6x, 8x and 10x magnification. A relief scope has two work settings. 1. The arms folded parallel or V shaped, so one can observe over an obstacle and 2. With unfolded arms the observer can stand behind a tree for cover and look around it. This last setting also gives a stereoscopic view. Both settings had military advantages, but in the early days this divice was also intended for the civilian market.
